The Roommate Scene

Frantic and frenzied, the shoot came together nicely on Friday, March 27.  Monica and I sat down to discuss costuming, and she found the greatest pieces at various thrift stores.

The first day of filming was relatively short--we were just focused on getting scene five finished.  We were there for a bout three years before we wrapped, which was about an hour shorter than we had originally anticipated.

Brittney was a huge help as she logged the shots and times for the shoot--essential for a more efficient editing process.  Taylor helped with creative problem solving, running to find random props as we needed them.  Monica was out still photographer, taking over 400 pictures throughout the course of the weekend.

Chris DeMichel was our audio guy/boom operator.  He even canceled some prior commitments in order to be there for the entire shoot.  We were all really thankful that he was there.

My suitemates we eager to help--Connie and Deshanna did tons of running to make things possible.  Melanee made the crew delicious cookies, and Liz was an extra and recorder.

Andrew stopped by to check up on how things were running, offering encouragement and affirmation.  John Pope and Derek were a Godsend with lighting and framing suggestions.

Nate and I talked through the shots I had in mind.  We made a great team, and he was able to bring the vision to life.   He has an intrinsic sense of how to position the camera and make the scene more dynamic.

Overall, the first day was short, sweet, and successful.
